Marie-Claire Hamon

These paintings are part of a body of work in which I was interested in ideas of a suspended time, a time of waiting, such as holding ones breath with expectation. For this I often used interiors which doubled up as waiting rooms- a timeless inertia- a reflection of a common need to look forward to something else while holding on to memories, not ever fully realizing that present moment. My paintings were trying to grasp that present and set it still.
